Reno, Nevada. June 13, 2014. The Nevada Association of Court Executives (NACE) named Ms. Joey Orduna Hastings as its 2013 Court Executive of the Year.
Hastings was recruited from the Governor’s Office, where she worked as a Legislative Coordinator before returning to court operations in January 2012 as the Administrator for the Second Judicial District Court. The Court is comprised of 15 judicial officers and more than 120 employees.
Hastings has performed her duties diligently over the past two years, helping shape the Court into an elite legal institution, performing at an incredibly high level.
“Chief Judge David Hardy identified multiple reasons for why Hastings should be selected as NACE’s Executive of the Year,” said President of NACE Steve Tuttle. “Perhaps what I found most impressive throughout Hastings’ nomination was not only Chief Hardy’s support, but the multitude of other criminal justice and County officials that endorsed her.”
Hastings’ nomination was approved by all 15 of her Judges, the District Attorney, the Public Defender, the Alternate Public Defender, the Sheriff, the County Manager, the Assistant County Manager and the Chairman of the Washoe County Board of Commissioners.
“Joey deserves this award. She has been successful at everything she has ever done,” said Washoe County Chairman David Humke. “What makes her the best is her attention to detail, her passion and uncanny ability to be personable with everyone she comes in contact with.”
“I agree with these officials that Joey is a role model for other Court Administrators to emulate,” said Tuttle. “Hastings is knowledgeable, professional, kind and well respected. She is somebody we should all hold in high regard and strive to resemble.”
