Reno, Nevada. July 1, 2014. Today begins the next chapter for Washoe County as the beginning of the new 2014/15 fiscal budget year. Despite the many challenges of the recent recession, Washoe County continues to be accessible, responsible and accountable.

Washoe County Manager John Slaughter says this budget dedicates additional resources to public safety and health while continuing sound fiscal management and streamlining of the organization.

“My focus areas for the upcoming year include enhancing our communication to citizens, supporting effective and open decision making, and supporting our employees as they provide excellent public service,” said Slaughter. “We will continue Washoe County’s legacy of being open and transparent with information as we determine what services and resources we provide in this new era of county government.”

Within the more than 25 departments, agencies and special districts, Washoe County government strives to make the region a safe, secure and healthy place to live by providing a wide range of services that impact citizens’ lives every day.
