What: The Washoe County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for the Washoe County Board of Equalization (BOE). Meetings are held during the months of January and February as necessary to oversee the processes used to ensure the business of equalization of property tax assessments presented to the Board.

The Board of Equalization may determine the valuation of any property assessed by the County Assessor, and may change and correct any valuation found to be incorrect.

Persons applying should be sufficiently experienced in business to bring knowledge and sound judgment to the deliberation of the Board, and have the ability to read and analyze detailed financial statements. Individuals should also be familiar with the Truckee Meadows infrastructure. Compensation is $100 a day.

The deadline for applications is Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 5 p.m. Applications are available in the Washoe County Manager's Office located at 1001 E. 9th. St., #A201, or at

Who: The BOE is comprised of five members appointed by the Washoe County Commission. Members are appointed to a four-year term and may serve two consecutive terms.

When: BOE members meet beginning in January and must conclude business by the last day of February by statue. Board meetings can last 8-10 hours per day and can run approximately 20 full days during this time period. The Board of County Commissioners will make their appointments Oct. 28, but applications received after the deadline of Sept. 30 may be considered for alternate positions if they become available.
