The Health District encourages parents to review their children’s immunization records to make sure they have the required immunizations to begin classes. “We have been informed by the school district that a large number of seventh grade students in Washoe County still do not have the required vaccinations for school entry,” said Phillip Ulibarri, Public Information Officer for the Washoe County District Health Department. “While in previous years the school district had provided an extension that allowed entering 7th graders more time to receive the Tdap immunization, we understand that this will not be the case this school year.” According to school officials, any student who does not present verification that immunizations are up-to-date will be turned away from the school until they have received the required Tdap shot.

The Washoe County Health District Immunization Clinic is located at 1001 East Ninth Street, Building B, Reno, Nevada, at the corner of Ninth and Wells Avenue. Appointments usually are required for all immunization services: however, the special Walk-in Clinics are being provided in anticipation of parents learning that their students are still needing this required immunization. Tdap shots will cost $16.00.
