Reno, Nevada. September 13, 2011. The Washoe County Board of Commissioners proclaimed September 2011 National Preparedness Month at their September 13th board meeting.

National Preparedness Month creates an important opportunity for every resident of Washoe County to take meaningful steps to make themselves and their community more prepared for any type of emergency, including natural disasters and potential terrorist attacks.

According to Aaron Kenneston, Washoe County Emergency Management Administrator, “In Washoe County, there are 13 hazards that we plan for; among them are winter storms, earthquakes and wildfires. Citizens are encouraged to “Make a plan, Assemble a kit and Stay informed.”
